Airport Way Preventive Maintenance

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT& PF) in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration is proposing to resurface Airport Way (and its adjoining frontage roads) between the Steese Expressway and Hoselton Road in Fairbanks. The project work is split into two stages over two years, the first of which occurred in 2014 (east end Airport Way) and the second stage is planned for 2015 (west end of Airport Way.).

The proposed project includes the following general items of work:

  • Repaving the existing roadway surfaces (including frontage roads)
  • Update signing and striping
  • Replace existing fence in corridor
  • Install signal equipment upgrades at intersections

Due to high traffic volumes on Airport Way, ADOT&PF plans on requiring the majority of lane restricting work to occur at night.
