North to Alaska, with the Birds
Alaska is a birder's paradise with nearly 500 species of birds that either populate or pass through our great state. Starting in April the annual migration of hundreds of species of birds can be viewed as they head north to their summer feeding and nesting grounds. Regardless of which region you may be in, there's no shortage of great viewing areas. From the Hummingbird Festival in Ketchikan, to the largest known breeding colonies of Aleutian Terns in Yakutat, to the Alaska Bald Eagle Festival in Haines, we have your 'life list' covered. Visit our Trip Idea pages on suggested itineraries for birding opportunities in our port communities.
