Motor Vehicle Crash Data
Transportation Data Programs maintains the State-wide database of motor vehicle traffic crashes that occurred on public roads and publishes crash statistics in annual reports summarized by crash information (Crash Data), information about the people involved (Person Data), and vehicle information (Vehicle Data). Crash information is collected from the Alaska State Troopers, local police departments, or the accident participants.
Motor vehicle crash data:
- is analyzed by trafffic and safety engineers to improve highway planning, design, construction, and maintenance to improve highway safety.
- is critical information for the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP), the Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS), the Alaska Injury Prevention Program and the Strategic Traffic Safety Plan.
- Authorized users can access custom crash data queries through the Highway DataPort.
