20th Annual Stand Down for Veterans in Need

(ANCHORAGE, Alaska) – The 20th annual Stand Down for Veterans in Need will be held on Friday, October 26, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the North Terminal of Ted Stevens International Airport (ANC).

Stand Down provides an opportunity for homeless veterans and veterans in need to obtain a multitude of services without having to negotiate through formal channels and make numerous trips to various agencies throughout the city.  Several social services agencies from the community will be available to provide information on topics including, but not limited to, housing, social security, legal assistance, and IRS problems.  Medical services are also provided for general medical exams and dental exams.  In addition, Veterans will be able to secure haircuts, massages, and clothing.  Free transportation will be provided by People Mover (Bus #7A) for Veterans with VA identification cards.
