AMHS Unveils New Logo to Celebrate 50 Years

(JUNEAU, Alaska) –The Alaska Marine Highway System (AMHS) recently unveiled its new corporate logo. The logo was designed to celebrate the upcoming 50th Anniversary in 2013.

AMHS logoThe new logo consists of a stylized Alaska Marine Highway vessel, corporate name and a “50 years” ribbon, which will be removed after the anniversary. The round design was inspired by portholes of ocean going vessels, while the vessel, with its iconic bow plowing forward, stands as the centerpiece.

“The Alaska Marine Highway has been a proud symbol for Alaskans for fifty years,” said Michael Neussl, Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities Deputy Commissioner for Marine Operations. “The new logo will continue to represent Alaska and its ferry system as we move into another 50 years of service.”

The original artwork was designed in Alaska for AMHS. The logo will serve as a key element in branding the ferry system as a provider of transportation services to more than 30 coastal communities and as a unique travel experience for Alaskans and visitors alike.

AMHS golden anniversary details will be announced during fall 2012 and will incorporate the numerous communities served by Alaska ferries.
